ANOTHER PARADE
'._ — <) : BALANCE OF THE "SEVENTEENTHB." The second section of' the Seventeenth Reinforcements paraded through the streets of Wellington yesterday afternoon, and were greeted by a large holiday crowd, whioh -lined the_ route with every manifesta.' ion of pride and loving regard. The city • was bright with bunting from end to end, and the aspect of the column was something like a lateral rainbow, for nearly every man had a miniature Union Jack flying in his hat, and as often as not the "old slouch- \ bore the appearance of dainty spring .millinery, so, tastefully were they decorated with violets, _ primroses, freesias, etc., all emitting a faint odour that has no rival in sweetness on earth. The column, wliich was headed by Captain P. E. Beamish, consisted .of A, E, F, J, and part of H Companies of Infantry, who were ac'companied throughout the whole route by the two camp bands and the Drum and Trumpet Band from Featherston. Brigadier-General Sir Alfred Robin took the salute at the base opposite the Government Buildings, where he was attended by several of the Ministers and officers of the Headquarters Staff. As on Saturday, the girls of Kirkcaldio's staff were busily engaged dis-> | posing of flags and flowers, the financial result of which will benefit the Christmas Gift Fund (for our soldiers in France). ■
