LAWN TENNIS
1 . — THE WELLINGTON CLUB. Tho annual meeting of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Club was hold last night. Dr. Young presided, and there were some fifteen members present. Tho annual report was adopted. Generally it was agreed by members that tho year had been an tinpropitious ono in several ways, but that the club had come through tho bad time very well indeed. There was a, clear balance on the year's working of £84 2s. tkl. The greater part of this sum would be, required for contracts lot by the committee for •top-dressing, levelling, and repairs .of tho courts, and' for other repairs. Those works would leave tho courts in excellent condition for tho new season. Outstanding subscriptions had been reduced to £7 19s. 6d. It was decided that it be a recommendation to tie incoming executive that .provision bo made for the repayment of some of the liiiibilities under debentures, amounting in all to £105. The olection of officers resulted as follows:—President, Dr. Young'; vicepresidents, Messrs. W. Fraser, A. J. Ferjiio, A. Hoby, George Shand, and E. K. Kirkcaldie; committee, Misses Gannaway and Allman, Messrs. W. Irons, R. Kennedy, and H. Van Stavorcn; lion, treasurer, Mr. W. M. Egglestone; hon. secretary, Miss Rogers (to act until January), Mr. E. R. Norman (for tho rest of tho season). A vote of thanks for his honorary services was accorded to tho auditor, Mr. A. 11. Goad, F.I.A.N.Z. A letter conveying good wishes was received from tho ex-seorotary of the club, Mr. Fred. W. Crombie, on active service.
