SHOCKING ACCIDENT

Nearing eleven o'clock on Saturday night tho body of John William Wilkins, a Petone resident, was found in a mutilated condition on tho railway lino at Kaiwjrra. The police "reported last evening that tlioy know little of tho affair. - Tho hndmg of the body was reported to them through, the driver of a train which was entering Thorndon Station. Iho driver noticed tho body on tho line, and had tho authorities notified. , •'? ft? u ? ht likel y that tho train which killed AVilkins was tho 9.25, outward to Lower Hutt, but tho polico are unable to say whether the deceased fell off tho train or was struck by it. . Deceased lirod in Richmond Street, letene.- He was thirty-four-years of ago, married, and ho had two children. He was a railway employee.
