Y.M.C.A, v. MAE IST BROS. _J The match between Y.M.C.A. and Marist Bros., played in aid of 'the Xmas Gift Fund, on the Basin lteserve, on Saturday, attracted from 400 to 500 spectators. The game was spoiled in a manner owing to the high' wind blowing, and tho grass being long. Baker (Y.M.C.A.) was tho first to score, and later, Phillips scored No. 2 from what many thought was an offside position. Marist then broke away, and after a lively, race, O'Sullivau scored for Marist's. Before the spell ended Phillips (Y.M.C.A.) again scored for his side. In the second spell M'Carthy (Marist) opened tho scoring, and later, from .i meleo in front, Ilarist's scored- again, evening the account. Y.M.C.A.- drew ahead when Ballard scored. O'Sullivau (Marist's) countered with another shot. Y.iI.C.A., with a final rally, swept down tho field, Ballard securing the winning goal, three minutes from time. Y.M.C.A., 5; Marist, i. -Mr. A. E. Wells was referee. Fourth B Grade Championship. On Saturday last Boys' Institute and Y.iI.C.A. met at Kelburn Park, when Institute, "by winning by 2 goals to 1, established their claim to the championship. The teams were fairly evenly matched, the score in favour of Institute reflecting their superiority over the Y.M.C.A.- The play, which was of a give-and-take nature for the first ten minutes, livened up a bit when Institute scored through Bond, their centre-for-ward, the score remaining unaltered at half-time. In tho second half play improved, and eventually Y.M.C.A. scored through Scott with a long, drooping Shot, which sailed nicely under the crossbar. •Institute, who had to secure a win 'in I order to win the championship, now set I to work with a will, and before long they were in the lead again through Malone. Play was very keen for the last 15 minutes,'but Institute, who lhad the situation well in hand, retired winners by 2 goals to 1. Fourth Cup Final. As a curtain-raiser, Karori met Wadestown, and were defeated by G goals to 1. Karori won the toss, and made tho mistake of playing against the wind. Wadestown early took command of the game, aud ran oat easy winners bv 6- goals to 1. Scorers: Karity'(2), Smith, "M'Leod, Goddard, and B. Hughes, for Wadestown. Lissington secured Karori's only goal. Mr. B. L. .Salmon was referee. Cup Scmi-Final. Sixth B Division.—Thorndon ' beat St. Thomas's by 6 goals to 2.
