HAWKE'S BAY SHOW

The horso competitions in the Hawke's Hay Show 6chedulo aro al- ' ways very comprehensive; and this year, in addition to the hunters', open * leaping, Indies' and pony leaping marches, there are competitions for maiden riders, Native v riders, best paced and mannered hock and harness , horses (pace and style). Through a , clerical error in the schedule, it is stated that riders in the pony leaping match 1 must be over 15' years old, ■ ' whereas thoy must be under 16 years old. There will be a maiden shearing competition,, as well as the .usual open shearing. Speoial prizes have been offered for both events.'. ~ r .

PALMERSTON NORM SHOW The Spring Show of the Manawatu A. and P. Association will take place on November 1, 2, and 3. The prizo schedule, which is now to hand, is filled with the usual generous list of prizes, Tho divisions cover ring ovonts'j competitions, horses, cattle, sheep', pigs, fat stock, hemp, home cookery, art needlework,'. photography, art, technical and public school work, Wool classing, horse shoeing, _and shoemaking,'etc. Thoso of our readers who can spare the time to visit this most important fixture are promised an ample sufficiency in interest, amusement,' and education to fully compensate them during' the throe (fays. It is at this show that the North Island broeders settle'their main differences of opinion as to the championships. For tho first time in the history of tho association its silver medals can be won for fat bullock and fat cow this year. This should stimulate the graziers to demonstrate what their land can turnoff. The fat cattle classes have been wholly revised and increased in number. The Manawatu Kennel Club will also, as, usual, hold its annual show in No. 3 Hall of the ~'..-main ■■ exhibition buidings. This is one of the most popular shows amongst dog fanciers,, and it, attracts the' best blood in tho Dominion,to.the benches.
