_$_ ■ - ■ The new Presbyterian Institute at Trentham is erected .on a site which includes in its entrance the old building. It is very centrally situated, and easy of approach,' 'having frontages to the two main arteries of communication in the camp. The main portion of the building is occupied by the mooting hall and concert chamber, which will seat 700-iuon. Alongside of this is the reading and writing'room, measuring jsoft. by 25ft., /which can I© thrown info the meeting'; Jill], giving additional accommodation for about 300, making a total; holding capacity of close on one- thousand. It is also possible to extend the reading arid writing room by throwing open the folding doors separating it from tho meeting hall, and taking in as much of tho latter as may be required. By doing this, rooms of varying size to suit different functions can bo provided'. The Bibb Class room, which will accommodate about 80 members, is adjacent to the chaplain's room. Tho chaplain is also provided with a small bathroom, containing a shower'' and wash-basin. A small store and an oflico complotcs tho building equipment. Tho interior of the building is lined throughout- with beaver board, stained Oregon battens being used to cover the joints. This gives it a clean and homolike appearance, and at tho same time onsuros a -warm building, free from draughts. Tho .winter nights being very cold at Trentham, it was deemed necessary to provide three fireplaces', which will bo much appreciated by tho chaplain and those who Use tho building. Special attention has been paid to ventilation, about which- tho Defence Authorities aro rightly very particular- Tho building 'is lighted throughout by electricity, the Church bearing the cost of tho installation, and tho Defence Department providing tho electric current freo of charge. The wholo of the work has been carried out by day labour, the two foremen in charge, Sir. J'. Mackenzie and Mr. J. Orr, being Presbyterian Bible Class members. Needless to say. therefore, that tho work has been well done. Mr. G. A. Troup was architect. The formal opening will take, place on Friday, September 59. The huildiiiK cost .£ISOO.
