WELLINGTON HOSPITAL

— 9 MEETING OF THE BOARD. Tho Wellington Hospital Board met yesterday. Thoro were present:— Messrs. H. Baldwin (chairman), B. G. H. Burn, F. Castle, D. Campbell, H. Freeman, W. Galloway, J. W. M'Ewan, F. T. Moore, C. M, Luke, G. Ales. Monk, J. Smith, W. H. Thompson, Mesdamos D. M'Laron, T. M. Wilford, A. M'Vicar, He vs. Dr. J. K. Elliott, H. Van Staveren. It was reported that the crection of tho now isolation ward at Ohiro Homo had been comploted, and that the furnishing- and equipment was in progress. It was decided that a conference of representatives from all the Hospital and Charitable Aid Boards of the Dominion should be held for tho purpose of considering the question of establishing a uniform system of cooperative purchasing of 'Hospital supplies. Should sufficient support bo forthcoming, it is proposed that the conference be held in Wellington next January. The Public Health Committee recommended :—"That tho servicos of the two collectors under the existing arrangements bo dispensed with, and that lor a period of six months from October 1 they be paid a salary of £2 per week, with commission at tho rate of 7i per cent, on the Amount of their respective collections." It was stated, that at present one of tho collectors received £3 14s. per week, and the other £3 6s. The recommendation was adopted, though some members held that the result would be a big reduction in tho collectors', incomes. Tho tonder of Messrs. Kennedy and Andrews (£203), the lowest, was accepted for the erection of a concrete wall and repairs to road to the Victoria Hospital; and tlio tender of H. Moult (£526 not) for tho installation of an electric lift at the General Hospital. On the reoommendation of the Con-. valcßcent Homo Committee it was decided .—"That a certificated sister be placed in charge of tho "Home, to be responsible for tho management of the' staff, home, grounds, stores, and also for the clothing and property of the patients"; and "that ohildren, from 8 to 12 years, bo admitted to the Home from tho Children's Hospital or from the Out-patients' Department on the recommendation of tho Medical Superintendent, at 12s. 6d. per week.-
