A Russian official communique states:—"Wo repulsed an attack in the region of Dubno. Stubborn battles continue on tho River Narivuka.' We repelled all attacks with heavy losses. We carried several heights in the Carpathians in the regions of Shibeni and Pneva. The mountains are enveloped »n, fog, and snow is falling."DESPERATE CONFLICT ON THE NARIUVKA (Rec. September 20, 5.35 p.m.) \ ' Petrograd,' September 19. The poverty of information in the Russian communiques ..indicates the importance of the desperate battle in the Halicz region. Tho Russians since Saturday have been engaged in a general attack on the Austro-Gorman tren- • ches. Sevoral villages, hills, and woods were taken and retaken again and again, before tho Germans fell hack. The fiercest fighting was on the hanks of the Nariuvka (south of tho Dniester), whoro the Germans, instead of awaiting the Russian infantry, throw their troops on the Russian lines. The attack ended in a. retreat, and the Russians pursued them until the enemy's first lino was captured and consolidated. GERMAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. London, September 19. A German .official communique states:—"General von Bernhardi's trdops stormed a, fortified Russian bridgehead on the Stochod, north of Zareczo, and ' took. 2540 prisoners. Our counter-attack on the -Nariuvka further succeeded. Our prisoners now number 4200.. There- is lively fighting in the Carpathians from Smotrec to lurlihaba. The Russians gained advantage's in tho Ludowa region astride of Dorm Wat-ra."-MORE GERMAN TROOPS FOR THE EASTERN FRONT. ' London, September 19. I The "South German Zoitung" states that the German Headquarters have been removed to tho Eastern front from the Western front, indicating that von Hindonburg's intention is to concentrate against the Russians. THE RUSSIAN OFFENSIVE IN ASIA ; MINOR London, September 19. A Russian official communique states:—"Our advanced guaras engaged the Turks occupying a wood in the vicinity of Karidjan, northward of Hamadan." ' ; '
