—: * . DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES. The. medals, prizes, and certificates gained in the looal examinations conducted by Trinity College of Music (London) were distributed by His Excellency the Governor last night in St. 1 Andrew's Schoolroom. Her Excellency the Countess of Liverpool also attended. Mr. Leon Cohen, seoretary of the centre, apologised for the absence of the president (the Hon. A. L. Herdman). ' The winners of medals and prizes were as follow:— Miss Ethol Winifred Evans, first senior medallist. Miss Mollie Fisher, second senior medallist. _ , Miss Lizzie Sutherland, first intermediate medallist. Miss Ivy Hoare, second intermediate medallist. • . ■ Miss Dorothy Ryan, junior medallist^ Miss Gladys R. Leys, second junior medallist. Prizes were dis£ributs~d as follow:— Theory, Higher Vocal.—tHilda E. Howard; senior division, Ethel Evans: intermediate, Mac Mackay; advanced junior, Sibyl Hopkirk; junior (equal), Gladys Leys, Eugenie Sanderson; preparatory, Olive Wakelin. Practical. — Preparatory, Lennox M'Phee; first steps, Thelma S. An- , drews. ' , A vote of thanks was accorded to Their Excellencies for having attended at the prize-giving. His Excellency acknowledging the vote, said that he had been present on three previous occasions, and it afforded him the greatest pleasure to distribute the prizes and certificates. He congratulated the recipients on their snecess.
