SWIMMING AT ISLAND BAY
♦— There was a good attendance of members at tlio fourth annual meeting of the Island ]3ay Surf and Life Saving Club, held on Monday ovening. Mr. W. H. Coy was elected chairman. The annual report showed that the club was in a strong financial and was well equipped with life-saving gear, also that tho City Engineer's department bad promised to erect a starting-board and diving pier at Island Bay by November. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. W. H. Coy; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. I'. Luko (Mayor), It. A. AVright, M.P., A. H. Hindmarsb, M.P., Martin Beck, M. Rcdican, A. Mcnzics, J. 0. Shorland, H. Hansen, P. J. O'Rcgan, G. S. Hill, ' A. R. Odlin, C. J. Lockwood, H. F. Ballinger, P. AVilloughby, C. Odlin, H. K. H. Bird; captain, AV. H. Coo; vicecaptain, G. AV. Beckett; lady superintendent, Mrs. S. Heal; senior instructor, AV. H. AA r akelin; assistant instructor, H. E. 11. Bird; bon. secretary, It. J. Skinner; treasurer, Mr. S. Heal; committco, Mrs. Hall, Mrs. Flotcher, and Messrs. C. AA'. Collier, H. Hansen, and T. P. Gill.
