HATAITAI MUNICIPAL ELECTORS

— « Mr. A. D. Bayfield presided over a largo attendance of tho committee of tho Hat-aitai Municipal Electors' Association last evening. It was reported that children living ill the district had been turned away from the now school recently opened. Many instances were quoted. In one case a family wore refused acceptance as pupils, although living almost opposite the school, whilst tho children on the other sido of the road had been accepted. Many members' had received complaints on this subject from indignant parents, and it was unanimously- resolved to ask tho Hataitai members of tho Roscneath School Committee to bring this matter up at the next mooting of their committeo, and to urge that tho natural boundary of the district, i.e., the southern boundary of Section 3, Evans Bay, should bo followed. Tlie City Council is to be again written to in reference to tho nuisanco alleged to be caused by clay dropping on to the roads from carts employed by a firm of brickmalters. • Regarding tho old complaint of tramway service, several mombers of the committee related new experiences they had recently had at' Cfourtenay Place through being ordered off longdistance cars whicli at a moment's notice had been converted by inspectors into "through fare" cars ; It was stated that generalindignation is felt throughout the whole district at tho poor attempts made to deal with the tramway question, and a general meeting is to bo organised if matters do not improve. The Post Office authorities liavo transferred the nostal box to tho opposite sido of tne road, although in 1911 at tho request of the association it was moved from that powtion on account of its dangerous proximity to the tramlines. Tliis matter will be again brought under the notice of the Departmental officials. Mr. A. D. Scott was elected a momber of the committee, vice Mr. D. C. Todd, resigned through Territorial duties. j.
