MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL
Tlio Miramar Borough Council met last evening. There were present: Mr. P. Townsend (Mayor), Councillors Underwood, Tracy, Hawthorne, Green, Pollock, and Telford. Reference was made to the pel! which is to ho taken on September 27 regarding the proposal to borrow £4500 for works at the Seatoun Parado. It was decided to hold a meeting at the Borongh Chambers on September 25, at which tho scheme will be explained to the ratepayers. A lawyer's opinion was received regarding the question of the council's power of sale over the Town Hall property, which was acquired in 1907 (out of money from the district fund), and was built on in 1911. The opinion was to tho effect that the council had a power of sale, but would be obliged to apply the proceeds for a like purpose.. ISO other course could bo taken without a special Acfc of Parliament. , Replying to a communication respecting tho 12.21 car from Lambton to Seatoun on Saturdays, the Tramway Traffio Manager stated that it had been arranged for a pilot car to precede this car as far as Kilbirnie Post Office. The car had run. last Saturday with satisfactory results. It was resolved to erect a. fence round tho break on the Seatoun Road, and to paint the j>osts white. This is because the road is considered to be somewhat dangerous for night traffic.
