CITIZENS' CHRISTMAS GIFT FUND
SPORTS ON BASIN RESERVE. As showing how complete is tho representation of sports bodies on tho General Committee of tho Citizens' Christmas Gift Fund, it is interesting to note tho names of somo of the'members comprising this. They aro as follow: —Messrs. C. G. Wilson, G. Gibb (Cricket Association), A. A. MaTryatt, A. Davies (Athletic Association), 13. A. Guise (Boxing Association), G. S. Hill, J. F. Atkins (Swimming Association), Barfy Keosing (Tennis Association), A. D. Bayfield (Rowing Association), W. Auld, A. E. Wells, H, M'Keown (Foothall Association), D. Weir (Rugby Football Union), A. S. MacShano (Golf Association), R. W. Shallcrass (Bowling Association and Sports Protection League), R. K. Lyon (Savage Club). In addition there are many enthusiastic citizen workors, headed by His Worship the Mayor, assisting on the committee. Mr. Shallcrass is lion, secretary of the General Committee, and Mr. Hill of tho Sports Committee. Tho following is tho suggested programme of sports to be field on tho Basin Reserve on Saturday, October 7:—Boys' walk, half-mile; half-milo wheelbarrow race; pillow fight; bicycle musical chairs; obstaclo raco: blindfold boxing; Veterans' Rugby football match; best impersonation of Charlie Chaplin; bicycle race for soldiers, in fancy costume, quarter-mile; minstrel and vocal entertainment; exhibition of Highland dancing; ambnlanco B display; gymnastic display; hairdressing and hat trimming competition; Association football match, Town v. Country Schools, 20 minutes' spell; Marathon race; side shows; Boy Scouts' route march.
