BOWLING

THE TE HIWI CLUB. . Tho annual meeting of tho To Hiwi Bowling Club was hold last evening. Mr. E. J. HuT proved. The annual report, which was adopted, stated that "tho withdrawal of tho dub from Pennant games' necessitated tho providing of friendly matches. A great number were played, all of which were of a vory enjoyablo character. Tho kecness of tho play was quite worthy of tho best Pennant competitions, and tho social sido was by no means neglected. No record of tho matches has been kept, but if the results were set out in detail, they could show that members of the club are worthy exponents of trie game. Tho club was represented in the singles, pairs, and full rink inter-club contests, arranged by tho Wellington Centre, and although not able to reach tho finals, each of tho teams made a very creditable record. Tho Nclson_ Easter tournament was also patronised by threo rinks. These taking part speak very highly of the enjoyable character of the Nelson visit. All these factors combined with a summer of unusually fine weather mark out the past season as the most successful one in the history of the club. Unfortunately, tbo committee have to record tho loss, owing to removal from Wellington, of two of its most valuable members. The earnest work of Mr. A. T. Benzie, as lion, secretary, was riuich appreciated. Tho genial personality of, Mr. J. I»M'Clintock will, be greatly missed, and his successor as solo selector of teams will, in common with all members of the club, recognise how valuable his services have been in this most difficult office. Both members have removed to advance their positions, and a fitting farewell was tended each of them upon his departure. It is a matter of considerable concern to bowlers of Wellington that the Dominion tournament will be held here this season. In conclusion, the committee ask all members of the club to do their utmost to make the tournament a success, both in respect to the high standard and conduct of the play, and the enjoyment of the visitors. The following officers were elected :- Life president, Mr. C Hill senior; life vice-president. Mr. E. J. Hill; committee, Messrs. Warwick, % Houldsworth, D. Skinner, C. Inncs; hon. Secretary, Mr. ». W. Sha brass; hon. treLrer Mr. W. Wiggins junior; hon. auditor, Brmsden; soV selector Mr. R. Houldsworth; delegate t' Centre, Mr. B. W. Shallcrass.
