ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS.
"Conscription."—The British Military Service Bill was introduced in the House of Commons on May 2, 1916, and passed on May 16. A few days later it passed through all stages in the House of Lords, and received tho Royal assent. It became operative one month later; in accordance with the provision in the Bill, that all eligible males over 18 and under 41 would bo called up within one month of the passage of the Bill. The period of service is for the duration of the war.
