A SUCCESSFUL EFFORT

The generosity of Mr,. P. A. M'Hardy and those other farmers who provided the'prizes for the Anzac Art Union has been handsomely rewarded by the splendid financial results' achieved. The tickets .sold realised a very large sura, approximately £15,000, which means that something like 300,000 one shilling tickets were purchased by the public. For the success which has attended this effort to raise funds for 'the benefit of returned soldiers the credit rests very largely with Mr. M 'Hardy himself, and the organiser of the sales of the tickets, Mr. Sutherland. They have been tireless in their efforts, and tho publicity campaign they planned and carried out kept interest alive and active, and sales of tickets brisk up to tho very last minute. The purpose of the Art Union was to proyide funds to build a home for soldiers and sailors at Palmcrston North, and Mr. M'Hardy, on Friday evening last, was in the happy position of being able to announce 'that tho end aimed at had been achieved. This gentleman has been an energetic.worker and a most generous giver in connection with war funds' of various kinds, and his latest effort fully deserved the success which has attended H.
