Shipments'of meat from Holland'have been resumed, but arrivals so far have only consisted of a few cases of veal, which., were in a bad condition, 'and were partly.'condemned; good quantities of mutton are erpccted in the near future. . . '•/ Frozen.—Tho feature, of the week has been the big drop ,in value of South Araerioan meat in • consequence • of the cheaper prices of' Home-grown, and good quantities on offer. In many oases 6ales take place at lower rates' than-the quotas lions set out' below. Chilled'.beef has been plentiful .rendering the poor , quality frozon beef released' by the Government less saleable. N.Z. .LOQAIL LOAN. The fact'that the New Zealand internal wax loan of £8,000,000 has been heavily over-subscribed is proof, not only of the prosperity of tho Dominion, but of the determination of the people to help lighten the financial strain upon Great Britain. Like Australia, New Zealand has been immune from the .ravAges -of "war, and,' in comparison -with the territory of aome of the Allies, Australasia is an earthly paradise. New Zealand has been spared even the .vicissitudes of climate, and her primary industries flourished to such an' extent that, the trade' balance at March 31- lost was over £10,700,000 in her favour.-' When the Finance Bill was under discussion recently in the Dominion Parliament, Sir Joseph Ward stated that the private wealth of New Zealand was £260 per capita! Subscriptions to the war loan already amount to over £9 per capita, and 1 the Government .of the Dominion intend to accept all that may be offered to them. The small five-year certificates appear to be attractive, and it would prooably pay the Commonwealth to placo this'class of security on their'list when the occasion 'presents itself. —Melbourne "Argus." SOUTHERN MARKETS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Chrlstchurch, September 5. There is very little business -doing in Wheat, but the. market keeps fiTm. Offering* are scarce, very few samples having been shown, for some days past. The Ton guriro waß ,to have taken some wheat in her Homeward cargo, and it is not likely that further space jflJl be fund for H. There has been a good demand of late for seed oats, indicating that -farmers arfi sowing this cereal instead of wheat as a spring orop. The potato market is without change, £7 being -paid tit country stations. TIN. Australian-New Zealand Gable Association. (Rec. September 5, 6.1 p.m.) Londoili September 4.
