"D" BATTERY
FORMATION OF RESERVE. j Last evening at the Y.M.C.A. an enthusiastic meeting of old members and friends of D Battery was held. The purpose of the meeting was tho proposal to form an honorary reserve of members of the D Battery, and Lieut. Doggau, who was present by invitation, speaking on behalf of Major Petherick, T.D., O.C. D Battery, said that. tho proposal had the' sympathy of the officers of the The formation of honorary Territorials in Dunedin and Christchurch had been a great success, and bad proved of great assistance in promoting the esprit de corps of tho various units concerned. Tho chief fanction of the honorary reservo would bo to perpetuate tho traditions of tho battery and' assist by their interest in reminding the battery of tho splendid records of the past. The reserve would bo a means for members to keep' in touch with ono another and with tho present ranks of the battery.' Colonel Moorhouse then read the roll call of the first three years of the 'ntterv's existence, namely, 18C7, '6S, uid 'G9, and fivo present answered to the roll. It was resolved, on the motion or Colonel ■ Moorhouse, to form an honorary reserve of D Battery, the motion being carried with applause, all present becoming members thereof. It was also agreed that members of tho former association should be made members of tho honorary reserve. . The following officers were clected President. Colonel H. iSefton Moorhouse: vice-presidents. Colonel F. J. Courtenay. Major A. R- Hislop.; secretary, Mr. M. H. Buck: members of the executive, Messrs. W. R. Bock, H. Bnillio, G. Goldie, L. Maysnor, and A.Atkinson. . Tho committee wero instructed to compile a sot of rules to be' presented to tho O.C. D Battery for perusal, and then to he submitted at tho next meeting" to be held in tho Y.M.C.A. buildings on Thursday, September 14.
