After hearing tho evidence the accused was convicted; and discharged for insobriety, and for the use of bad language he was fined 10s. Annie Smith, alius Summcrsby, charged under the recently-gazetted Avar. Regulations with loitering in Ghuznee Street fov immoral purposes,, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to two months' imprisonment.. Maud Williams, alias AYating, alias Cochrane, oharged with bigamy, and for whom Mr. P. AY. Jackson appeared, was remanded for a week on the application of Chief-Detective Boddam. Thomas Ridout, charged with bagsnatching, was, on the application of Mr. H. P. O'Leary, .who appeared for him, romanded to September 6, arid Charle3 Lawson, oharged with the theft of 268 eparking plugs, was again remanded for a week, Chief-Detectiro Boddam explaining that the polico were awaiting papers from Australia. Mr. It. P. O'Leary appeared for accused.

Edwin James Sheard desired to plead guilty to two charges of theft of moneys totalling ,£1 lis. 9d., at Christclrarch. Inspector Hendrey said that the information was laid, in Cliristchureli, and the fucts of the case were known there. He knew nothing more than was in the warrant. Ho offered to telegraph to Ohrlstchurch, and the cage ■ was accordingly held over until this morning. Before Mr. TV. G. Riddell, S.M.: Michael .Tame 3 Nash, charged with assaulting ii constable while in the execution of his duty, was fined 10s. MISSING CARGO. Further evidence was taken by Mr. Riddell in tho case in which Joseph Garver, alius Gaver, a waterside worker, was charged witli having stolen two pairs of Indies' shoes, valued at 215., the properly of Skelton, Frostick and Co., the alleged theft having occurred on the steamship Monowai at Wellington, on July 11. Further heating of the ca6e was adjourned till Saturday morning.
