BIOGRAPH OPERATORS
i NEW UNION FOKMED. Registration was granted yesterday to the Wellington Biogra-ph Operators' Industrial Uniou of Workers. This is' quite a new ■ union, and its members are said to comprise practically all the hiograpb operators in Wellington. Tiio secretary, Mr. J. M'Kenzie, has written to the employers inviting them to meet the union at 9 a .m. on September 6, and. discuss conditions of employment and wages. The following conditions havo been suggested by the union:— Hours.—Night picture shows, 7 o'clock till 11 o'clock on six days a week, and one matinee; continuous 6hows, not less than two operators to be employed during a ISJ-liour <iay (the hours to be arranged by tho operators). ; Wages.—Night shows, £fi per week; continuous picture shows, first operator £6, and second operator £-5 per week; overtime at the rate of ss. per hour. Other suggestions are special terms for work done on Sundays or holidays, an annual holiday for operators, and preference to unionist-s.
