Viscount- Grey (Secretary of State for Foreign 'Affairs), in a telegram to Baron Sonnino (Italian Foreign Minister), offered his sincere congratulations to Italy on taking a step which would afford fresh evidence to the world of lier unswerving determination to secure in the closest, unity with the Allies the final victory for liberty and civilisation. - ; \ ' N BITTER COMMENT IN GERMANY. : London, August 29. The "Vossisclie Zeitung" comments bitterly on Italy's declaration of war The paper states:—"But it will help the September war loan. An increased number of enemies improves our chances of securing indemnities after the war. The indemnities may be regarded by subscribers as security."
