At a meeting of the North Wairarapa sub-branch of tho Wellington Acclimatisation Society on Friday, it was reported that ahout 450,000 trout fry had been liberated in the district streams last season. The' members of tho branch had contributed £'13 towards the cost of the fry. The poll on -the proposal to borrow £32,000 for extending the drainage system, £2500 for completing the municipal buildings, and £5000 for extending the gasworks, is to be taken on Friday next. ■ A steady decline is being experienced in tho number of recruits enlisting in the Wairarapa quota. The Wairarapa sub-branch of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society is considering the possibility of slocking the local streams with quinnat salmon. There has been a liberal response in Mastcrton for flowers to be sold in Wellington in aid of the fund for the provision of comforts for naval men. A match between tho Mastorton and Martinboroagh Miniature Rifle Clubs, for tho Pragnell Shield, was fired oh Thursday evening, and was won by tho former by forty points. The Dagg Shield in connection with tho Mastertou Chess Club hao been •won by Master Walter Connell, who lost only ono game in the season.
