'At last evening's meeting of tho Harbour Board, Mr. F. G. Cobbe asked if it was true that the board had any land at Miramar likely to be suitable for workers' dwellings, for if that wero

Daniell) said it was curious that' the question should. havo been asked, as th„y-.had before them a rate demand for £233 on land the board - held •at Miramar. This land was the hills (near : the Miramar Wharf) that were bought to provide • spoil for -a reclamation Rcborno .in Wellington's boom time. Ho had been, .over the property' recently •with the- secretary. There were about i seven or eight acres, and they were trying.to arrive at somo conclusion as to making better use of them than vrns being., made-at present. 'They were bringing, in nothing, .and to-let them for nothing would bo a good bargain . if the.lessee would .pay the >rates>-- Ho had before him particulars:of the' purchase of each of tho sections, and as-sured-the board that it was a most interesting document. Thoy would bo vory expensive sites to build upon. The idea had beon to level down the hills, and reclaim an area of water alongside ■the road.
