Customs duly collected' at the port of Wellington on Saturday amounted to £2626 *s. 6d. •' BUSY LONDON DOOIvS. A. return presented, to the Port of London Authority at its last meeting reflects the remarkable, activity at the docks induced by war conditions. It shows that import goods landed for warehousing. of for immediate delivery during the financial year ended March 31 last totalled 2,819,332 tons, or 431,304 tons in excess of the figures for 1914-1915, which were themselves higher than any previously recorded. Export, goods aggregating 872,269 tons were also handled on the quays, and-were 121,215 tons more than in 1914-1915. Taking import and export goods together, the total was 3,691,621 tons, a growth of 552,519 tons. Concurrently with this large increase in goods dealt with there was a falling off in the volume of shipping tonnage using the docks. The explanation is that whilst, beforo the war, a large proportion of the vessels using the Port of London discharged or loaded part cargoes only, finishing at Antwerp or Hamburg, vessels now invariably arrive or sail with full cargoes. Statistics of shipping tonnage consequently afford a less accurate guide to the trade handled than in normal times. LONDON WOOL SALES. Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. (Bcc.
