ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
KILLED ON THE RAILWAY. TWO FATALITIES. By Telegraph—Press Association. , Ashburion, August 17. An old-age pensioner named l John SufSeld, 75 years of age, while crossing the railway lino near the station at 8.30 this morning, was struck by a shunting engine and killed instantly. Ho was very deaf, and apparently did not hear the engine coming. . - Christchurch, August 17. W. Patersoii, who was found lying on the railway line, injured, near Belfast, on Sunday morning, ■ died in the hospital to-day. Deceased worked at Belfast as a carpenter.
