'A' Duncdin messago states: Tlio proelamation for the onrolment of tlio Expeditionary Forco Reserve, as pro- • vided by tlio Military Service Act, will DO gazetted in _ about a fortnight's ■ time, Tho Minister of Defence states that preparations for' beginning the enrolment aro practically completed."lt is intended 1 to enrol botlv divisions of the reserve without delay. If it be necessary to put_ the provisions of tho 'Act into operation tho first division will be called up first. It is oxpectod that; enrolment mil be well advanced in the first fortnight of September. In tho event of a shortage of recruits in any recruiting district, that district will havo to bo prepdred to accept compulsory enlistment. One phaso of tho question as regards compulsory enlistment constitutes a difficult problem for tho administrative authorities. This is tho extent to which tho Stato should go in tlio matter of rendering Unfit mon fit ' for military servico in cases where operations are required. Tho question is now engaging tho attention of tho Government.
