GONE OVER TO THE ENEMY
NEW ZEALANDER DESERTS
Tho following official statement regarding a very unhappy occurrence at the front was handed to tho Press by the Prime Minister yesterday:— "Information has been received that ono of' our men is believed to have deserted to tho enemy. Tho mail's namo was such ,as not to give any indication as to Gorman origin, and 110 suspicion was aroused by him prior to the date ho disappeared. "Until dotailed official confirmation of tho truth of tho present report has beon received, tho man's name will not Be disclosed. This is being done in ordor to prevent,possible injustico to tho parents rosident in New Zealand, should tho report on investigation provo unfounded."
