A triangular miniature rifle match was fired on Tuesday night between the Masterton, Carterton, and Defence Clubs. The match was won by Carterton by a substantial margin. The ova collected this season by the curator of the Masterton fishponds will, it is expected, reach 500,000. The work of distributing the fry will be commenced next week, should the weather prove favourable. The Tinuimea station, which is being inspected this "week by the Land Purchase • Board, contains 10,000 acres. Last year tho property grazed about 11,300 sheep and 900 head of cattle. The Masterton Co-operative Dairy Company's factory opens for the season on Monday next. Considerable interest is being manifested locally in the Government war loan, and applications for bonds are likely to be satisfactory.
