A BUSY TIME
SORTING SALVED EQUIPMENT.
Tho soldiers' equipment which was saved from the fire in the supply store at Trentham on Sunday was removed to tho large lecture hall near the officers' mess. Altogether: equipment for several thousands of men was saved from the burning building in the space of less than ten minutes, two companies, about 400 troops, ' being employed in the work. To facilitate the salvage, boards wero knocked out of the ends and sides of the store, and the clothing passed_ through. Some idea of the splendid savo that, was effected was toce had on Monday afternoon, when a numbor of men were seen at work in the lecture hall sorting the heaps of equipment into the neat bundles in which they are stored. At one end wero the great piles of trousers, tunics, shirts, underolothing, hats, and other clothing. At the other wero the sorted bundles. While this is being done," tho half of tho supply store that was saved is having a thorough renovation, and tho equipment will then be returned to its original storo until it is required by incoming drafts of men. The Camp Commandant, Lieut.-ColonoL H. R. Potter, has expressed his appreciation of the fino woi;k doiio hv all ranks at tho timo of tho fire. Had the equipment been burned the loss would have been a serious one; as it was every stitch of it was saved.
