NIUE GRATITUDE

• , t TESTIMONIAL TO CAPTAIN HART, OF THE CORINTHIC. Captain Hart, of the C-orinthic, has had several testimonials presented him from time to time, but none have given him greater pleasure than , that presented to him by the natives of Niue who have been invalided back to their Island home, after having served in the ranks of Britain's Army along tho far-flung battle line. There' is a quaint simplicity and'charm that is expressive* in the testimonial, without being [ in any way fulsonie, and Captain Hart is sure that it rcflccted the feelings of the Islanders.

The address (which was translated by Lieut. Macdonald, who returned in charge of the men) reads as follows: — "To the captain of the Ship—the Just Chief of all Things: pertaining to the Ship,—Our great love to you for the way you have treated us since the beginning of the voyage from England on June 17 to the ond of the trip. We aro very pleased for all the things, tliat you nave'remembered us with; we have never had to ask you for anything. You allowed us to attend the three concerts, which we all onj6yed. You arranged for deck games for us. including cricket,' and which pleased us very much.

"We had clean white cabins and comfortable beds.

"We had plenty of room to walk about' the deck and enjoy ourselve3 there. "We wore all very pleased with the food provided. "We wish that yon he blessed m every way on your various joumovs. "Our great love to .you. To all the odicers, to the doctor and to the others who toil on the ship. "Our thanks to you; our love to you; our thanks for giving' us plenty, for looking after us. and for your generosity at all times." - j
