Mr. Asquitb, in the House, of Commons, intimated that ' Lord Wimborne's position as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland ivould be modified in order to enable the office to be discharged to the greatest advantagp, although the ultimate authority and ■ responsibility for the Irish administration would necessarily remain with the Minister of Ireland, who was answerable to the House.
