Speaking at a special conference of the National Unionist Association, Mr. Bonar Law (the Unionist Leader) admitted that thero had been differences of opinion among tliem oil the Irisli question, but there were considerations even moro important than the 'maintaining of piirty union, and ho was prepared to run the risk of disunion .• for a courso which lie thought to be Tight. Respecting the fiscal question, Mr. Bonar Law said ho believed tliat tlio war had caused: an overwhelming majority of people in tho oountry to feel that never again would our German enemies be allowed, to use our markets as they had done before tho war, and also that what had happened in tho self-governing Dominions had made a tremendous difference in"' the point _of view which everyone had in relation to the political and! economic conditions which ought to exist for the future. The Government had. done the right thing in having the whole question in- ; quired into from a new viewpoint in order to ascertain whothor it would he possible to carry it without a party fight either at' Home or in any part of . 1 the Empire.
