WATERSIDE WORKERS
■■ ——4 ' MEETING OF THE UXIOX. A meeting of tho Waterside Workers' Union was held ill X Store last evening, Mr. F., Cm-tico presiding. The returning officer declared that Mr. L. Glover had been elected vice-proßidesit of the union, it was reported that the committee had been set up to meet tho employers with regard to tho shortening of tho hours of engaging labour had heen unable to gain an audience with tho employers. The matter was referred back to tho Disputes Committee. A motion that the retiring members of tho executive should recoivo an hororarium of £5 each (a total of £60) was rejected. Regarding the m■oreaso of accidents on tho wharf it was decided that a deputation, consisting of I Messrs. J. 0. Bruce, G.,.H. Clrey, L. [Glover, alid l'\ Curtice wait upon tho | Harbour ftoard. It was Mceided to refer to the Disputes Committee (he question of how many cases of kerosene should ho landed' and wheeled on a "Yankee" trolley. It was-agreed that, at the next, meoting of the union tho names of the unfinaiicial members lie announced. The decision of trie employers regarding an alleged breach of agreement (the Maitni case) was placed before the meeting. It," was derided that the question be referred bacs to the committee, with instructions to abide by the agreement ,
