PRICES STILL GOING UP. ( The latest figures relating to the cost of living in New Zealand arc published by the Government Statistician (Mr. Malcolm Fraser) in the "Labour journal" for July. They show that up to J lino of this year there wore further increases in the prices of the various 'groups of commodities. The .average percentago increase for .the Dominion ovor prices ruling in July, 1914, were: Groceries: May, 1916, 14.33 per cent.; Juno, 1916, 14.9 i per cent. Dairy produce: May, 26.40; June, 27.91. Meat: May, 18.21; June, 18.60. Three food groups: May, 18.60; June, 19.25. Tho figures for Wellington were:—Groceries: May, 20.43; June, 20.43. Dairy produce: May, 25.71; June, 27.52 Meat: May, 16.06; Juno, 16.24. Three food groups: May, 20.22; June, 20.78. A table is published showing the amounts required to purchase in each of the four centres of New Zealand during the first six months what would have cost £1 in the average of the four centres in 1909-13 (three food groups). The figures:—
