THE HELP OF THE WORKERS

GENERAL HAIG'S THANKS.

Early in the week a.Renter telegram stated: "Replying to a message of congratulation from the General Federation of Trades Unions, Sir Douglas Haig telegraphed his warmest thanks: 'All ranks realise how much their success was due to the patriotism, pelf-denial, and wholehearted cn-operation of brother workmen at Home.'"

Patriotism, self-denial, and co-operti-tion are factors that count. No national undertaking can succeed without the goodwill and co-onxation of the great bulk of the people. Accordingly, the promoters of the Anzac art union look for the' help of all classes to assure the success of their undertaking, which is national in., character," inasmuch as the object is to build a hostel or club blithe free use of nil soldiers aiid sailors of the Emnire. itr. P. A. ITOardy, chairman of the Anzac Art Union, is one of the most prompt and practical patriots_ in tlie Dominion, and the people of New Zealand can rest assured that under his direction the Anzac Art Union is being conducted on proper lines. Full particulars of 250 prizes that each one shilling ticket stands to win are (riven in an advertisement in this issue, which also includes a liandv form of anplicntion for tickets which may be filled in and forwarded to the secretary of the Anzac Art Union, P*\lnierston North. Just as Sir Douglas Uaig has had occa-1 sion to thank the workers of the Homeland for their -plendvd help in providing material for the bovp at the front, so will our bovs themselves show their gratitude to the people who sub-cri.be to a haven for tlieni when the strife is over.
