ACTION TO REDUCE OVER-

PRESSURE.

Recently tho Trades and Labour Council passed a resolution "protesting against the proposed employment of schoolboys in certain factories after school hours'." The Wellington Teachers' Institute supported the proposal, and forwarded a letter to this effect to the Prime Ministor (the Right Hon. W. P. Massev). A letter received from the Prime Minister anil read atilast night's meeting of the institute, stated, inter alia,- that the Trades'and Labour Council's protest had not yet been submitted to him, but when this was dpne he would be pleased to give consideration to the institute's representations, The letter- continued: "I can assure you that tho matter in question is recognised as one of considerable importance. Your resolution also urges that steps be taken 'to reduce the over-pres-sure already inflicted on schoolboys by employers, both before and after "school hours.' If you will bs good enough to furnish mo with particulars of any Instance where it is alleged that such overpressure is being imposed, I shall bo pleased to' have inquiries made info the matter."

It was decided that the letter be referred to the incoming committee to deal with.
