ST. ANDREW'S CHURCH
ANNUAL JHGPOKT. Tiie report of the Session and Board of Managers of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church states that a, survey of the year's congregational work affords considerable ground for thankfulness. The attendance at public worship has 'been well maintained, the financial situation is satisfactory, and the various churoh organisations have for tho most part continued their good works with zeal and efficioncy. During tho year 17 members have been added to the roll; 11 by certificate, and 3 by profession of faith. In view of the approaching change of pastorate, the Session resolved to purge tho roll. It was found that 30 names had to bo removed. - This leaves the number on the roll'at 201, as against 220 last year. Those members absent at the front, ol otherwiso prevented from being present, in Wellington in tho near future, have been placed on a supplementary roll, which numbers .21. Tho Women's Guild has 24 members on the roll, with an averago attendance of 11. The work this year has been entirely on behalf of ■our soldiers. Since June, 1915, the Indies have made 175 garments- from material 'supplied by tho Bod Cross Socioty and Military Guild, and have also donated JIG garments and 128 pairs of socks, for which they supplied their own material. Tue guild still continues 'its good work, and while thanking those who have given assistance both in money and material, intimates that it is ready to make good uso of as. much more such assistance as it can : obtain.- The Young Men's Bible Class 'senior) reports a I'membership of 8, with an average attendance of C. Seven members have left during the year, and 2 havo been added. Tho Sabbath School has a membership of 75, with an average attendance of 52. In December -Mr. Eric Lambert resigned tlie superintendentship: Thereafter Mr. E. Brown consented to take charge of the school until a permanent superintendent was found. The vacant post has now oe-en filled by Mr. F. P. Laurenson. The-congregation is greatly indebted to Mr. Brown for the ability and willingness he has displayed in caring for the interests of the school during the interregnum. The Ladies' Visiting Ccmmitteo continued its good work of aiding the minister in the visitation of the sick, taking an interest in new arrivals, and administering tho poor fund. Since its inception in June, 1913, up to the present timo JIM 3S. sd. has been coiv tributed to this fund. The sum cf JcS? 2s. Id. has been expended in relieving various necessities, and thero is a balance in hand of £7 Is. id. Mrs. N. MacFarl-ano continues to act as treasurer of this very useful fund. The report of the Board of Managers states that the ordinary collections amounted to JE324 9s. lid., as against ! -£300 7s. 7d. Income from capital account, ;£27fl ss. Id., as against .£232 Gs. 6d. Subscriptions to Home Missions, .£45 Gs., and to Foreign Missions £12 Ss., as against ,£-16 13s. Gd. and .£35 18s. (id. respectively. St. Andrew's Church Fund contributions for the year wero .£274 12s. Gd., an increase over the provious year of j;4 -Is. This may be considered satisfactory in view of the falling off which was noted in last report. Tho items bank overdraft and sundry creditors, i!B4 10s. Gd., have now disappeared. Tho board has the satisfaction of placing before the congregation what may, under the conditions now obtainj'ug, be considered a financial statement which will meet with approval.
