Parton, Dairyman, Carterton.—Advt NEW ZEALAND MEAT .. .. — : *— OVER .-£11,000,000 IN SEVENTEEN MONTHS'., The Imperial Ciovernment Supply Department has established a fresh nn its purchase of meat for Imperial Government supplies, tho payments made during July last to the freezing companies and producers exceeding a million Is. Id. to be exact. The total payments since the Department commenced operations (i.e., March 3 last year)-have now reached the huge sum of ,£11,203,3Gi Is. Gd., and there have been shipped -to date: 575.517 quarters 'beef, 3.G73.2W carcasses mutton,. 5,461,015 carcasses lambs,' and quantities of boned beef, pieces'of mutton and lamb bave also been shipped. . No less than 115 large insulated steam-ers-have been concerned in the carriage of this meat, 95 of which have arrived at their destination with: 719,129 quarters beef, 3,069,100 carcasses , mutton, 4,155,508' carcasses lamb; and 16 are at present en rou,te, carrying 139,159 quarters of beef, 518,500 carcasses mutton, 883,989 carcasses lamb; and \ are loading meat in the Dominion. Only one, the Clan MacTavish '(the vessel which put up such a gallant fight with the. Moewe) has been sunk by the enemy. The Clan JfacTavish carried: SBS3 quarters beef, 12,749 carcasses mutton, 7989 carcasses lamb.; There are about 1,759,000 carcasses, equivalent to 601b., in ths Dominion freezing stores at the present, time, and indications point to a clearance of these stores without interference with the new season's. operations. ' ' | In addition to meat the Imperial Ciovernment. Supply Department has handled all the cheese-purchased for Imperial Army purposes; 13,50-i tons have been ! shipped to date, costing ,£916,657. Schcelite has also figured in the Department's purchases, 21S tons haying been shipped up to the present, against which advances to producers amounting to 324 Have been made to date. ■ Large quantities of butter and cheese have also been distributed by the Imperial Government Supply Department to .
