DUNEDIN PRESBYTERY'S REGRET. By TelegTaph—Press Association. Dunedin, August I. The Dunedin Presbytery bas passed a resolution expressing extreme regret that Parliament rejected the proposal for the early closing of hotel bars during the war, especially in view of the emphatically expressed conviction of over 100,000 petitioners, and asking Parliament, oven ut this late hour, for a referendum. AN OAMARU RESOLUTION. By Telegraph—Press assertion. Oamaru, August 1. , A meeting of citizens convened by the No-License League to-night carried resolutions regretting that the Government has made no provision in the War Itegulations Bill restricting the hours of sale, of liquor; also expressing the opinion that the decision of the House .of Representatives is contrary to the opinion and desires of tho electors of the Dominion. The resolution calls upon tho Government to introduce legislation giving the right to people to decide by referendum the hours of the sale of liquor.
