BOXING COMPETITIONS. ' Tlio bovs of Croydon Preparatory School held their annual boxing competition at Day's Bay on Saturday afternoon. The championship cup and gold inedal, presented by the Wellington Boxing Association, were won by H. Bennett. Mr. Staples acted as referee, with Mr. Talbot ns timekeeper. The followins are the results:— Flyweight.—First round: P. Manoy beat Dunoan; R. Lewis, a bye. Final: R. Lewis beat P. Manoy. ' . Featherweight; —First' round: M. Bonnett beat Barton;, Aislabie. beat P. Manoy; G. Lewis beat -M/Laren; Le Grove beat Grace. Second round: M. Bennett beat Aislabie; Le Grove beat Lewis. Final: M. Bennett beat Le Grove. Bantam Weight.—First round: G. Strang and Whitehead, a bye; Harcourt beat Johnston; Mackenzie beat Turnbull; Corry beat Pearce; Haynes beat R. Murray'; Stevenson and Bayley. a bye. Second round: Mackenzie beat Harcourt; Haynes beat Corry; Whitehead beat G. Strang'; Bayley beat Stevenson. Third round: Mackenzie beat Whitehead; Bayley beat Haynes. Final: Bayley beat Mackenzie. Lightweight.—First round: Williams beat Gorringe; Willoughby beat Rolleston; Shirtcline beat Hume; Maunsell beat H. Murray; Ballinger beat loverton; Levin beat B. Russell;. Miller and Thomson, a bye. Second round: Wil- . loughby beat Williams; Maunsell beat Shirtcliffe; Levin beat Ballinger; Miller beat Thomson. Third round: Willoughby bent Maunsell; Levin_ beat Miller. Willoughby sprained his thumb, consequently Levin won the final by default. Middleweight.—First round: J. Rus-sell,-a bye; Newbigiu beat Martin; H. Bennett beat Dalziell; Grocott, a bye. Second round: Nowbigin beat J. Russell; H. Bennett beat Grocott. Final: H. ' Bennett beat Newbigin. Heavyweight.—First round: R. Nelson beat Bower; Warren beat A. Russell; Blundell'beat B. Strang; Ellis lxxat J. Nelson. Second round: R. Nelson beat Warren; Ellis beat Blundell. Final: lillis beat R. Nelson. At the conclusion of the competition Mr. Staples presented the prizes to the ' winners, and the boys gave hearty 1 cheers for the. Boxing Association and for Mr. Ellis, who presented the school with a handsome honours board for boxing.
