FORECAST AND SUMMARY AT ( P.M. YESTERDAY. . Present indications are for st-rone southeasterly winds, with squally and showery weather in and north, of Cook Strait, and« easterly winds changing - to freshening northerlios, with fair to cloudy weather elsewhere. The barometer has a rising tondency in tho , north, but -will probably, fall soon in tho south. Tho weather has improved in all jorts of the South Island, but cold and showery conditions have prevailed, especially in tho north and East Coast, districts of- tho North Island, with stronc south-eatcrly winds.
