Fell(Pelorus) moved, at the Dominion Conference of the-Farmers' Union yesterday :—"That town members of. land boards be treated the same as ' country members, i.e., paid for attendance at meetings." ". ' , " The motion was ■ seconded by Mr. J. Bell (Westland), and carried utter very brief discussion. In the discussion.on drainage and settlement at ( the Farmers' Conference on Tuesday, Mr. P. Keegan was reported as having said that "a million of money might have been saved if things had been worked right when the Rangitaika Plains were being drained." Mr. Keegan informs us that what he really conveyed was that a million might have been saved if the swamp had been drained before it / was settled.
