The final meeting of the 'Wellington Education Board, a« constituted during tho last three years, was held yesterday, afternoon, tho chairman (lion. j.-Gv W, Ai.tken) presiding. The following were also present:—Messrs. J; Kcbbell, A.W, Hogg. C. M. Luke, T. Moss, W. Allan, and AY. 11. Field, M.P. It was stated that tho, Government had decided to supply free class books to parents of children who were in stringent circumstances. In'tho case of .parents changing thoir places of residonce, and who had bought certain books for their children, which ■ would bo of no iiso in their nevr place- of abode, new free class books would, be supplied. :

Tho Bduoation Department wrote stating that JIWO had been authorised for an addition to tho school at Shannon. The requisition'' for additional shelter shed .accommodation at' the same school .was declined.

An application was granted to tlio Wai* hoki Valley Private School for inspection by an inspector.

On the recommendation of the Works andVFinanco Committee it'was Tesolved that^axrangements. bo made with tho Masterton Technical School managers for carrying on the Lansdownc- Girls' cookery classes on completion of tho techno col cookery room.

The board approved of the South Featherston Committee's application for the acquiring of an additional area of fiv» acre;.
