MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. The Victoria College Council met Inst evening. Mr. C. Watson Dresided, and there were present also tlio Rev. W. A. Evans, Professors Brovn and Garrow, Drs. Anson and Hector, Hons - J. G. W, Aitken and A. T. Magimiity, Messrs. T. R. Fleming, W. H. Morton, W. S. La Trobe, and R. M'Callum, ILP. . Miss E. Fenton was appointed as assistant and demonstrator in physics. A trust account is to be opened at tne Post Office Sayings BaDk, and the interest accruing from the moneys invested on account of the Rbtxtes Trust is to l>o invested therein.A special grant of .£3 Os. 6d. was made to the library in order to complete the purchase of Halsbuiy'e Laws of England. The present arrangements for publishing the calendar a7-e to be continued next year, provided that an assurance-can bo obtained from the Registrar of the New Zealand University that tho calendar Trill bo ready by March 1. Last year's Finance and Business Committee ivus re-elected, except that Professor Adamson was replaced by Professor Garrow.
