A NOBLE CAUSE

CAN YOU HELP? We must do more for our brave men than cheer tlicm as the.y go forth to keep old 'England's Hag Hying. AVo must see that they are cared for and honoured when they return to resume civil life— when the" bands no longer play. Those who cannot help in a large way have a very good opportunity of helping: .the returned soldiers and sailors in a .small way by investing a shilling or- so in the Anfac art union, the proceeds of which are to be utilised in building a club on the M'lLnrdy gift section at Palmerston North. This clulj will be free for all time to all' sailors and soldiers of the Empire. A number 1 of Manawat.i farmers have provided 2200 sheep for disposal by art union for this purpose. Tickets are now for sale at the modest snm of one shilling each. The prizes amount to .£2200, the first being 1000 good sheep. And every ticket has a chance in 250 prizes. The'drawing will take place on the date specified on tickets, and the winning numbers will appear ,in this paper the day after the drawing. The members of the committee will pay .£IOO out of their own pockets to any charity the Mayor of Wellington names if the date of drawing is postponed. The advertisement in this issue contains a coupon which should be filled up and forwarded, with remittance, to the secretary of the committee at Palmerston North. Business people who are willing to assist bv selling tickets are requested to write to the secretary, Anzac Art Union. Palmerston North.
