EMBARGO ON HIDES

WITHDRAWAL ADVOCATED. ■ At the Agricultural Conference yesterday Sir Walter Buchanan 'inoved that the recent embargo placed by the Government on hides, should bo taken into consideration. ■ : The mover said that he was sure the farmers had lost .£20,000 through the embargo, no good had- been done the Imperial authorities, and the only effect had been to put money into the hands of speculators. It would bfi in the general' interests to have the proclamation withdrawn at once. Sir James Wilson said that the position was even worse than that as outlined by Sir Walter Buchanan. The motion was carried.
