TRAMWAY RETURNS
INCREASED WORKING EXPENSES.
The outstanding feature of Hie fourweekly return presented to the Tramways Committee of the City Council yesterday afternoon was the big increase'in the working expenses for the period compared with the corresponding four weeks of last year. Whilst the total revenue was increased' during the period under review 7 by'£lsoß, the working expenses have increased by <£2300.- This loss of <£800 is accounted i'or by reason of the 10 per cent increase pf pay granted to the tramway employees as from June 1 (the fourweekly period under review- ending oil June -3. The comparative figures for the four weeks are as follow:— I ■ 1910. 1915.
