LOCAL BILLS. The House of liepresontatives met at 7.30 p.m. yestordity. Mr. J. CBAIGUi' (Timuru) asked the Postmaster-General whether ho was aware that in Samoa there was bo Post Oilioo Savings Bank. He had boen informed by men who had como back from Samoa that it would bo a very great advantage to the garrison if facilities woro given to tho men to bank their pay. SIR JOSEPH WARD (PostmasterGeneral) said ho would be very glad to inquire into tho matter. His impression was that the Post Office at Samoa was not administered by the Post Office in New Zealand. Mr. T. M. WlLFOM>'(Hutt) asked the Minister of Railways whether liis attention had been drawn recently to tho 6tate of the rolling-stock oii the New Zealand. Railways. Ho suggested, .that the under-gear of coaches and wagons was wearing out, and. that there was not a sufficient supply of spares obtainable for renewal. He asked the Minister to get a competent man liko Mr. James Marclibanks to make a thorough investigation of the condition of tho works since Mr. Hiley had arrived, and also to set up a Commission of.lnquiry. Tho Hon. w. 11. HEIIIIIES said that the question was too important to answer out of hand, and ho '.would ask the honourable member to give notice of his question to enable liim to make full inquiry. So far as bo knew, the rollingstock was in excellent condition. Tae'iollowing local Bills were put through' their remaining stages and passed Auckland Harbour Board Empowering Bill. (Mr. A. E. Glover), the Wanganui Borough Council Street Access Empowering Amendment Bill (Mr. W. A. Yeitch), and tho City of Nelson L;/ans Conversion and Empowering Amendment Bill. The House rose at 10.40 p.m.
