Portland Cement ... 0 9 6 — BUSINESS FIRMS AMALGAMATE. The amalgamation of two more wellknown business firms—.Messrs*. Levin and Co.,- of WclHnerton, and Messrs. Gorton and. Sou, of Feilding—is announced. The ; Gorton business was founded in 1379 by the late Caloncl Gorton, who entered' into partnership with Mr. Jno. Stevens, under the style of Stevens and Gorton. In 1884 Mr. Stevens retired, and Mr. R. S. Abraham joined the firm. In 1892 the firm's business was cut up. Messrs. Abraham. and. Williams taking over the interests of the south eide of them Orou& Hiver,. and Colonel Gorton—who at this dato took his son, Mr. Norman Gorton, Into partnership—the north side of the river. Since the death of Colonel Gorton the business has been under tho management of Mr. Xorman Gorton. Tho business will be conducted as hitherto, Messrs. Levin and Co. having taken over the whole of tho staff of the old firm. Mr. A. R. Sclandsrs, formerly of Masterton, has been appointed joint manager with Mr. Norman Gorton, of the Feildiug branch.
