■ THREATENED BV LABOUR TROUBLES. By Telegraph—Press Ass>ciatian. Auckland, July 5. The sugar supply is threatened by a labour trouble at Fiji. It is understood that 'the locomotive drivers, twelve in number, struck to support a demand for shorter hours. According to a cable message received by the Auckland manager, tlie men havo torn up agreements and struck for an eight-hour day and overtime. The Auckland secrolary of the Engine, drivers' Union lias received the follow, ing cablegram from the strikers:—"Warn men against accepting employment Fiji; mou hero on strike for an ciglit-houi day." Mr. Philson, tho manager, states the men aro paid .£■l 10s. weekly. He believed the men afi'ecttid all came from Sydney. The Auckland management was usked to supply twelve men, who havo been obtained, and will bo shipped to Fiji at an early date. There might be Borne embarrassment in regard to tlie dispatch of sugar, but it would be only temporary.
